India - Original Watercolour
This is my first painting of an Indian elephant. This piece was inspired by working in oil and acrylic, as I wanted to create a watercolour painting with the dept and contrast featured in oil painting. This painting is all about light. It captures the moment when India, the little elephant, walks into a small clearing in the forest and is briefly illuminated by beams of strong sunlight. Parts of this painting, such as the elephants back, have been left unpainted to suggest the strong sunlight falling on India as she walks into the clearing. Areas of the background are painted in golds and light turquoise to create a strong contrast against the dark shadows on the lower areas of the elephants head and body. Loose washes of green and gold evoke the dappled light of the forest surrounding the little elephant. This original watercolour painting is professionally framed by Appletons Picture Framers in Stillorgan Dublin. It is framed in my signature limed white wooden frame, with an off-white double mount under glass. The piece is approx. 29"x24" framed in size. I know that buying a piece of original artwork is a big investment and photographs of paintings rarely does them justice, so you are more than welcome to visit my studio in south Dublin to view the painting in real life before you purchase. If you would like to book a viewing, simply go to my Contact page and send me a quick message. I will reserve the painting for you and be in touch to arrange your visit. If you are not living in Dublin, we can arrange a catch up via skype to have a chat and give you a chance to see the painting via video.
