Vermillion - Original Pastel (29"x27")
This painting is based on a series of pastel paintings I created last year for a show called titanium, and features a series of horse portraits painted in pastel on bright colourful paper. Like my watercolour work, I wanted the beautiful background paper to form an important element of the finished painting so I chose to use the background to suggest the horses head collar. The viewers eye automatically reads these flat elements of negative shapes as the horses head collar even though they don't include any detail. The strong contrast of the collar creates really interesting shapes and patterns between the details of the horses head making a really interesting and contemporary piece. This original painting has been rendered in soft pastel. It has been professionally framed by Appletons Picture Framers in Stillorgan Dublin. It is framed in my signature limed white wooden frame, with an off-white double mount with Burnt Orange inner mount under glass. The piece is 29”x27" in size. I know that buying a piece of original artwork is a big investment and photographs of paintings rarely does them justice, so you are more than welcome to visit my studio in south Dublin to view the painting in real life before you purchase. If you would like to book a viewing, simply go to my Contact page and send me a quick message. I will reserve the painting for you and be in touch to arrange your visit. If you are not living in Dublin, we can arrange a catch up via skype to have a chat and give you a chance to see the painting via video.
