As with other subjects in the WILD collection, I was really drawn to the intense warm African sunlight falling on this beautiful lioness resting in the golden grass. I wanted to evoke the feeling of really intense bright sunlight, so I used masking fluid to create the grasses in front of Sosinel. This protected the white paper from the paint so the long grass is suggested by pure white unpainted paper. I love all the warm golds and oranges in this painting; you can almost feel the heat of the African planes.
Did you know male ions spend around 16 – 20 hours a day sleeping and resting, so they are basically only active about 4 hours a day protecting their territory!
This original painting is completely unique and one of a kind. It is delivered professionally framed by Appletons Picture Framers in Stillorgan Dublin, in my signature limed white wooden frame, with an off-white double mount under glass. This piece is approximately 75cm x 90cm (framed) in size.
I know that buying a piece of original artwork is a big investment and photographs of watercolour paintings rarely does them justice, so you are more than welcome to visit me at area J67 at this year’s Art Source Art Fair in the RDS Dublin. This painting from my new WILD collection, and will be exhibited at Art Source in the RDS from 15th to 17th of November 2019.
Please note this painting will not be available for shipping or collection until after 15th November 2019.
