Ice - Original Watercolour (31"x28")

This my first painting of a white tiger. I was really drawn to the intensity of the tiger’s gaze - particularly this guys piercing blue / green eyes. The colour combination of the white fur and cool blue eyes reminded me of Ice, so I called this piece Ice. I wanted this portrait to evolve as I painted it, so I painted Ice directly on the paper without any preliminary pencil drawing (I didn’t draw the outline first and then start painting, I just painted). This is my favourite way to work as it allows the painting to evolve and come to life as I apply the pigment. It’s also a really exciting way to work as you never quite know what the finished painting will look like!

This original painting has been professionally framed by Appletons Picture Framers in Stillorgan Dublin. It is framed in my signature limed white wooden frame, with an off-white double mount under glass. The piece is 31”x28" in size. The photos attached feature the painting to scale in a living interiors to give you a sense of the dimensions.
