The Big Race - Original Watercolour Painting
Horse racing is a core part of the Kildare culture and as a kid I often visited the Curragh with my family to watch the horse racing. Horses are one of my favourite subjects to paint, and I particularly enjoy painting horse racing scenes. This painting is all about the energy and intensity of the horses racing towards the finish line. In order to depict the speed and energy of the scene, I painted each racehorse and jockey without any pencil marks, starting with the jockeys cap and working down to create each racehorse in loose colourful wet into wet washes. The painting includes lots of loose almost blurred washes to suggest the movement of the horses fighting for first position. The painting also includes splatters of paint depicting the turf flying into the air as the horses gallop over the grass. This original watercolour painting is professionally framed by Appletons Picture Framers in Stillorgan Dublin. It is framed in my signature limed white wooden frame, with an off-white double mount under glass. The piece is approx. 32”x26" framed in size. I know that buying a piece of original artwork is a big investment and photographs of paintings rarely does them justice, so you are more than welcome to visit my studio in south Dublin to view the painting in real life before you purchase. If you would like to book a viewing, simply go to my Contact page and send me a quick message. I will reserve the painting for you and be in touch to arrange your visit. If you are not living in Dublin, we can arrange a catch up via skype to have a chat and give you a chance to see the painting via video.
