Annie - Limited Edition Print
This is a reproduction print of a painting of the Scottish Singer-Songwriter Annie Lennox. This painting is based on a still from the music video for the song ‘Why’ from Annie’s debut solo album, Diva. I think she has one of the most stunning faces and I particularly love her eyes. I painted this in my signature style, painting the subject directly on the paper without drawing it in pencil first. I started painting Annie’s eyes and then moved onto the beautiful headdress.
Once the magenta and vermillion feather headdress was blocked in, I spent a long time considering the painting and felt it captured Annie. I felt the painting didn’t need any more facial features so I just worked on the eyes and headdress. Even though the painting only features the subject’s eyes, I’m always really surprised by how many people recognise it as a portrait of Annie Lennox. I really love this painting. I had the original up for sale in my first show but I decided that I can’t part with it so now it hangs in my sitting room. (Check out the song and music video it’s awesome!).
